Our Story
Our Story.
The Stoney Creek Farm stud breeds amongst the finest quality goats in Australia.
Started by Rodney and his granddaughter, Summer, we are a large stud located in the Gold Coast Hinterland. Since 2012, we have dedicated our time and focus to perfecting the breeding of Australian Miniature, Nigerian Dwarf, Nuwby, and Pygmy goat breeds.
Our stud is home to 20 Champion Goats and 5 of Australia’s only 10 Grand Champion Goats.
Stoney Creek Farm continues to add immense value to the miniature goat industry, with international recognition, genetic importation initiatives, breeding programs offering the highest quality genetics, and a supportive community for new herd starters and breeders.
The Farm.
Stoney Creek Farm - an oasis in the Gold Coast Hinterland and titled Gold Coast’s best garden by Mayor Tom Tate and Gold Coast City Council; was established in 1992 by John Chapman & Rodney Surawski.
Surrounded by the beauty of the bays and with the freedom to explore the spectacularly enchanting native New Zealand, a young John Chapman’s heart and soul was ingrained with nature. Combining an inherent artistic talent and horticultural knowledge, John’s gifts have blessed all that surrounds him.
Stoney Creek farm is an example of the serene and magical landscapes that he creates.
In 1992, in partnership with Rodney Surawski, the Stoney Creek Farm property was purchased. It was merely a blank canvas of cleared paddock and a small weed-infested treed hillside. Together, they shared a vision of a future paradise. Their passion, commitment, and pride would someday transform this landscape.
By combining their understanding of nature and intelligent architectural designs, they now have created a magnificent physical masterpiece. Stimulating the senses with visual contrasts and explosions of colour, fragrant blossoming flowers, and the sounds of the life that now inhabit the gardens - one can’t help but feel tranquil.
Stoney Creek farm has withstood the tests of Australia’s seasonal challenges, that at times, can be unforgiving with droughts, floods, storms, extreme heat, and cold temperatures. Some survive, some perish, but the commitment at Stoney Creek Farm is to persevere and embrace it all.
Awarding winning gardens, scenic views, and an array of animals including goats, horses, mini-horses, birds, bees, fish, and Alaskan Malamutes.
Please note: We are not open to the general public - visits must be by appointment for serious buyers only.
Meet The Team.
Rodney Surawski, Founder & Owner
In 2012, Rodney founded Stoney Creek Farm with his Granddaughter, Summer.
What started out as a small family hobby, and showing goats at MGBA shows, has now turned into one of Australia’s most award-winning and largest miniature goat studs - with Rodney leading the team into incredible accomplishments.
As the Art Director of a globally renowned Decorative Art company, his business experience has allowed him to transform Stoney Creek Farm into what it is today. With a love for animals, Rodney and his partner John have created an ecosystem of tropical plants, award-winning gardens, and an entire farm of animals.
Rodney and Summer have amassed a record number of awards in the show ring, developed partnerships with internationally recognised USA studs, imported premium USA Nigerian Dwarf genetics into Australia, and made a phenomenal impact on the miniature goat industry.
